The upcoming HTC Sensation XE has been making noise in the HTC Fanboy Geekosphere. The new device has upgraded to a 1.5 GHz processor and the famous “Beats By Dre” technology to sprinkle your eardrums with even better sounding tunes. If you already have a Sensation and wish you too could enjoy the enhanced audio experience, we have some great news.

One of the most highly acclaimed developers on the famous XdA forums has cooked up some fresh Android goodies for all of you HTC Sensation owners. Mike1986, has just released a new rom based on the Sensation XE and it includes the “Beats Audio Technology” and is also overclocked to 1.5 GHz right out of the oven.

Root the HTC Sensation – Tutorial with Videos

Want to make your HTC Sensation 4G perform faster? Would you like to change the look and feel of the phone? If you answered yes to any of those questions, your best bet is to root your phone.
Rooting the HTC Sensation isn’t that hard thanks to the Revolutionary: S-OFF & Recovery Tool software. However, rooting your smartphone isn’t for the faint of heart. There is a chance you could brick your phone if you don’t follow the instructions. FREEHTC.com is not responsible for any damage done to your phone while using this tutorial. Well, enough of the legal jargon, lets get started.

This is a great video tutorial I found on you tube. You may want to watch this overview first and then follow the step by step instructions below the video.

Doesn’t the guy in this video sound like the MMA legend GSP?

OK, Let’s get started!

First you will need to download these files and save them to your computer:
•    Revolutionary: S-OFF & Recovery Tool (Download Here)
•    HTC fastboot drivers. Download the drivers and install them on your computer.
•    ClockworkMod Recovery 4 (Get it)
•    su-

Turning Security Off (S-OFF)

First you will need to unlock your bootloader, this is most easily accomplished by using the Revolutionary: S-OFF & Recovery Tool. Once this is installed on your phone, you will be able to easily get root (root your HTC Sensation). Check out the steps below to enable S-OFF.
(you may need to disable any antivirus software. Also, disable fast boot on your phone by going to settings from your homescreen > Power > FastBoot)

1.  Write down your device’s serial number. Just pull the battery out of the back of your Sensation. Take out the battery and the serial number will be under where your batter was. Check out the video below if you have trouble.

2.  Get your HBOOT version number by turning off your phone and holding down the volume down button and the power button at the same time until it boots into a white screen. You will see some system information including your HBOOT version number. Make sure you take note of that.

3. Visit the Revolutionary: S-OFF and Recovery Tool site and download the package for your computers operating system. You’ll be directed to a “Beta Key” form on the website. Fill in the form with your Sensations Serial number and HBOOT version number. Click the “Generate Key” button and it should give you a beta key if you entered information correctly. Make sure to take not of the beta key, your going to need it soon.

4. Find the zip file for the Revolutionary tool on your computer and unzip it to a folder on your computer.

5. Enable “USB Debugging” from the Settings > Applications > Development screen on your Sensation.

6. Connect your phone to the computer via USB. Choose “HTC Sync” for your connection type and ignore any warnings saying that it could not find HTC Sync.

8. Launch the Revolutionary tool.  A command prompt window will pop up and ask for your Beta Key. Type in the key, but make sure you get it right, it is case-sensitive. Now press enter.

9. Wait for the process to complete and when it is done you will have S-OFf and the rewritable NAND on your Sensation.

ClockWorkMod Recovery should now be installed on your Unlocked HTC Sensation. However, you need to permanently root your device. Not to worry, we have you covered. Just follow the steps below.

How to Root your HTC Sensation Permanently

1. Reboot your phone into ClockWorkRecoveryMod by powering down and holding down the power button and volume down button at the same time (just like before).

2. You will be brought to the white screen, go ahead and create a backup. Just navigate to Backup & Restore > backup. Wait for it to complete and move on.

3. Select the “Install zip from sdcard” option > “Choose zip from sdcard”.

4. Click on su- and then choose “Yes – install su-” to install it.

5. Back out and reboot your phone installation has completed.

Congratulations, you now have a rooted your HTC Sensation and you are ready to start installing the hottest ROMs for your phone. The next step would be to head on over to the XDA Forum, find your device and start installing the goodies.  Have fun!

Could the HTC Vigor be Hitting Verizon as Incredible HD?

Could the device code named HTC Vigor be headed to Verizon Wireless as the Incredible HD? According to the document you see above, the device listed as launching on October 13th (right around my birthday) has about the same specs. Of course this could be a fake, but who knows.

One big question I have is the fact that there isn’t a Verizon logo anywhere on the thing. Although, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s fake. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
What do you think?
